Old fashioned hall coat stands

I am after one of those old wooden coat and hat stick stands for the hall in black, I have seen dozens of cheap replicas on e bay etc but I want a sturdy one. John Lewis do one ( HND brand) but it's £150, don't want to spend that much.

Any ideas please?

I just put "oak coat stand" into ebay search and it came up with some beautiful arts and crafts and Victorian examples so, if you're not after a brand new one, I'd look there.

They do a black vintage coat stand for 24.99 at dunelm. Is that the sort of thing you're after?

Thanks - I know I can get a replica type but they are v flimsy- I would prefer an original if at all possible.

Only on mumsnet this can happen.
I am also in search for the same thing ,have been around a lot of shops
E bay is your best bet.
I am going for an old fashioned coat hook shelf and a separate umbrella stand!!!

Auction houses might be a good bet. They often have sales of old-fashioned, solid furnitue.

Ebay /Carboot sale

Metal ones are on Ebay and very sturdy. Though if you have it in a corner then they invariably overbalance when you have many people round...

I don't think original wooden ones are any tougher than replicas- both quite light.
