Handmade curtains, cost a fortune, ~DH hates them..what to do?

Have had two sets of curtains made up for my lounge and DH says they have to go as they look like they should be bedroom curtains! To make matters worse, a good friend of mine made them and, although I paid her I feel really bad that he wants rid of them! She has done an outstanding job on them and they are top quality and cost a small fortune! So what do I do? Is there a market for unwanted curtains???

Sell them on eBay and start again.

How do you feel about the curtains?

Imo men have no style for furnishing a home, would he get used to them?

I sold some handmade curtains via eBay a few months ago, they sold for a decent amount too.

Make a deal with DH. The curtains stay for 3 months and if he then still hates them you will sell them.

As long as they aren't a funny shape or size then there is a Market for secondhand curtains, especially larger ones.
But I'd be inclined to go with another posters suggestion of making a deal with your DH about sticking with them for a while (that is as long as you like them) and seeing if they grow on him.
I make all our curtains, thankfully DH has the same taste as me or he'd have to live with stuff he hated as once I've made them they stay. I couldn't contemplate buying curtains as the windows are so big they'd cost a small fortune.

Presumably you discussed them with him before you ordered them? I think it's only fair that he gives them a chance. Could you reuse them in a bedroom?

Can you maybe use them in your bedroom instead?

It kind of depends, if you actually really like them, then hang on to them in case you move or could use them elsewhere - and if you can't bear them either, or there is no hope of using them at all, ever, then put them on ebay.

Especially if they are up to date/trendy fabric and they are well made, they should sell very well.

But I'd hesitate to suggest that you will get your money back.

Which bit is the problem?

Wrong print? Have very plain paint in the room.

Over fussy with swags/ribbons etc? - de fuss them by replacing it with plain ribbon.

What can you do to them to make them more living room-ey?

I've made a pair of fussy toile curtains which I love less fussy by having the top done in a plain antique linen, less toile, less fuss

(I'm impressed nobody has suggested changing the DH )

I'm gonna check, he may already be on eBay.
