Anyone one used a property finder?

Hi we have move a long way (herts to devon) and need to be there by end of march. The thought of the logistics of looking for schools home etc whilst sorting my elderly DPs and working is about to blow my mind -although so excited as we wanted to move there for so long. I was saying to a friend we need Kirstie ( god forbid) or Phil which got me thinking about using a property finder - has anyone used one ? Any advice would be helpfu

I don't think I would be comfortable having someone else house hunt for me. Just spend sometime on rightmove and ask here for help from Devon mumsnetters as I am sure locals would help.

Hi -believe me I have spent hours on rightmove etc and had some great advice from here we're going down for a week tomorrow to have good scout which will help but am worried about how we are going to fit it all in.

I haven't used one but there are quite a few in this area (also SW). Folks seem to come down from London for a day and see several properties in a short space of time. I suppose a property finder would weed out the ones that wouldn't fit the bill. I think you'd pay a premium though.

My parents used one when they decided to move to Spain and we're not sure which area was best. He was great - had extensive knowledge of all areas and identified which area fiitted their requirements best - which was not the one they thought it would be. Then identified possible villages and got a list of possible properties. Even went to viewings with them to help them to assess which best fitted their criteria. They are very happy in the property they chose it suits them down to the ground, they would never have found it without his help.

He was not very expensive. My parents are not wealthy they say he was worth every penny.

If you do not know the areas you are considering very well a good property consultant with good local knowledge will be invaluable.
