So after stalling for the best part of 6 months my house sale is going through. I think. We are due to exchange in the morning and complete on Tuesday.
The removals company I thought would do it scoffed and told me there were no slots before Xmas. I'm now freaking as I have two littlies, a full time job and need a packing service.
We 're only moving 1.5 miles down the road. 3 bed flat to 3 bed house.

Impossible?

Me too. More complicated move but can't get anyone even the most expensive.

Just sat here is tears as it looks like it will now be January.

Try non-London based companies too (if you haven't already). Most will do London as well and often cheaper as no expensive London HQ to pay for. We used Hamiltons recently who were excellent (international move though).

Aussie man and can are amazing. Call them. We have used them countless times for multiple moves. Good luck and congrats!

Anyvan.com - worth a go. We moved twice in 4 months this way....

Try Careful Kelly's - they get really good reviews on netmums.

Another vote for Aussie manandvan.

I used James Removals www.jamesremovals.com/

Really good :)

We got a cancellation slot and have just paid for cancellation waiver which we were hoping not to have to do..

Now just waiting to see if we exchange today..

I phoned 12 companies this morning and most of them just laughed. We got the cancellation with one of the original 3 that we got a quote with but also rang different branches of the same company.

Well I ended up by going with Paul Jackson removals (Based in Chiswick/Ealing). They were simply wonderful. Turned up promptly, packed everything up on day one, then on day two moved everything to the new place and put the furniture back together. At almost half the cost of the price quoted by Burke & Wills.
Would recommend them in a heartbeat. Mumsnet FTW!

Oh and there were no deposits to pay, no cancellation waivers... just a really simple nice transaction.
