Need to make a quick decision - grained v smooth doors

Please help me make a quick decision!

I am having a loft conversion and for building regs most of the doors in the house need to be replaced, so for consistecy I am having them all done.

Builder needs a quick answer regarding what type of fire doors I want. I am erring towards 4 panel grained wood. Any strong opinions for or against? House is a Victorian terrace.

I am usually excellent at decision making but under lots of work stress tonight coupled with extreme period pains, not sure I trust myself!

Acutely aware this is an insanely dull question by the way.

I had 4 panel grained (primed white) fitted earlier this year. I wanted smooth but my doors are an odd size for which we could only get grained at that time (unless we waited for special order).

I wasn't keen on grained but they have grown on me. They are quite forgiving paint-wise but took longer to paint as you have to get into all the grainy groovy bits. I used a roller and got a very professional finish.

Don't like 6 panel ones - they look too 'busy'.

I went for one of these into the kitchen

door

For kitchen doors I like to be able to see into the room for safety's sake. Much better than the solid door that was there before.

Got kids? Smooth doors are easier to wipe down! Grrrr.
