Amazing....but does it still look like that after the recent storms?

lambbone · 07/12/2013 21:43

Poole Harbour is awesome! Sandbanks only possible if you are a gangster or a footballer though. But I would if I could Envy

Needanewsofa · 07/12/2013 21:58

No storms down here, and we spent the afternoon at the beach seeing Father Christmas arrive by RNLI boat. Great place to live, but you don't need to live in Sandbanks to enjoy life here Wink

Kewcumber · 07/12/2013 22:00

It wouldn;t look like that after DS and I had lived there 2 days...

usualsuspect · 07/12/2013 22:01

I could never work out why Sandbanks is so expensive.

It's not all that.

OneStepCloser · 07/12/2013 22:14

It looks, from the floorplan, that the master bedroom overlooks the road and not the sea Shock that was a bad design.

Norudeshitrequired · 07/12/2013 22:19

It's a hideous house, lovely views though.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 07/12/2013 22:40

The traffic in the summer would get to really annoy me.

exexpat · 07/12/2013 22:46

I wonder if paying £6m+ for a house in England can guarantee you year-round blue skies? Or did the estate agent just rush round to take pictures on a rare sunny day...

mummytime · 07/12/2013 22:59

My problem with Sandbanks is that the Land isn't even going to be there long term. Even if I was mega rich I wouldn't invest in such risky land.

But then not everyone looks at Geology before buying a house.
But then this is more my thing.

Kitttty · 08/12/2013 10:26

We have rented a holiday home here with direct beach access every summer for years - absolutely love it - the sand is so clean and white and soft - children in and out of the house on the beach at the crack of dawn and late in the evening. Would be my dream location - views both ways.

Needa - where do you live? M

That house in Devon is amazing.

Even if I had the money, I'm not sure I'd like to live in one of those super rich areas like Sandbanks. Good job for me I'm skint really then isn't it?!

morethanyoubargainfor · 08/12/2013 10:37

I think I remember the first house being on grand designs or some other development show a few years ago. The owners went way over budget and said they would never move and this was their forever house. If it is the same house I wonder what has happened for them to sell it. it would make a lovely holiday home, but not an every day house for me.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 08/12/2013 11:57

That Devon house is girgeous. I wouldn't move to Sandbanks if I had the money. A little bit inland and something with an acre or two then use the beach when it's a bit quieter. I enjoy Sandbanks this time of year when it's quieter on a lovely crisp sunny day.

Kitttty · 08/12/2013 13:39

When we rent in the middle of the school holidays - it is deserted and no one turns up until after 11 - then they all clear off again by 5 - or 6.

Best days are a quick 10 minute rain shower at 12.30 - we pop back in doors - everyone goes home -- then we pop back out again!

Even at the busiest time (weekends) all you need to do is walk a few hundred yards from the car park to (people are so lazy!) for some proper space.

Horrible house - hardly 'homely' is it?, but agree, lovely views.
So many thousands of far more appealing properties you could have for that sort of money though.

SirChenjin · 08/12/2013 13:52

Lovely views - but the rooms look quite small for that sort of money, and it would be like living in a goldfish bowl with all that glass, esp. in the winter when it's dark outside and you've got the lights on inside Grin. If I had £6 million I wouldn't be spending it on that - there are far, far nicer properties down there.

Kitttty · 08/12/2013 14:02

I don't have £6m - and agree that it is a bizarre house - especially that weird glass box bit with the chair - show me some other great stuff down there - budget £1m - 1.2m.....but I love the views and having rented on of the houses year on year - never tire of the views.

Much prefer this one, cheaper and sunnier too.

was in a hotel just yesterday near sandbanks and had a beautiful view over the water. Sadly all the houses are looking very samey down there.

CrispyFB · 08/12/2013 21:29

Bit of a walk to the nearest schools Wink

sailorsgal · 08/12/2013 21:35

daaling you get the chauffeur to take them.Grin

InkleWinkle · 08/12/2013 22:00

I'm fairly sure the Sandbanks one was on Grand Designs.
