Hi all,

Have been reading this board with great interest and before my partner and I split up over admin stresses I was wondering if I could pick your brains over a loft we want to convert.

We are share of freehold top floor flat and want to convert loft into a bedroom and ensuite with a mansard roof to the back. We have one set of neighbours downstairs who have just moved in (buyers not tenants) and 2 neighbours to other side (we are end of terrace).

We own the roof space, it's "demised" in our lease as a deed of just after we moved in. I'm a bit concerned about this party wall agreement. Am I right in thinking I'm going to need all 3 neighbours to sign off on this fact?

I will be asking the other share of freeholders for their consent. I can't imagine it will be a problem (very naice professional couple similar age to us). Is there any reason they can turn something down? We're not going for anything crazy and 2 doors down have the same sort of thing.

We are having an architect come in next week, and ultimately a very good project manager/builder who has done other work in our flat with be doing the actual build. I'll need a structutal engineer yes? But will I need a surveyor for sure, unless party wall issues?

Any other tips and advice would be appreciated. I've been scared from the party wall thread!

Read the terms of the lease/freehold contract and contact your solicitor for advice. I would imagine you will need written permission room other VHS.
