Hi all,

Myself and my husband are looking to move to Brighton. We have an 11 month old son so our criteria would be good schools and a nice area to live, with a reasonable commute to London. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!! Smile

Burgess Hill has a decent commute and a goid selection of schools.

Had a friend moved to Worthing. But her DP had to commute everyday back to London and it was an ordeal, he thought he could handle it, but what with it not being on the direct London to Brighton line!!!. So they've moved to Burgess Hill and like it. Though she describes it as a cemetery with lights. And they got less for their money as you pay for that that train link ....

Burgess Hill isn't that near Brighton though, if you're looking to move there to enjoy being in/near Brighton. if that makes sense.

If you want Brighton move to brighton. Anywhere else just isn't the same and many people regret it.

Thank you everyone, very helpful. We actually have only just bought a brand new 4 bed house...moved from sidcup (just outside of London) to dartford. And we absolutely hate it. A very expensive mistake!!
So this time we really need to find out about the best areas to live.

And yes LunaticFringe, we love Brighton. But here in dartford we miss local shops, community, nice walks, nice local pubs etc. we would love to be close to the sea too. And of course good schools.

I have lived in brighton for about 16 years and still love it every day What sort of budget are you looking at?

Saundi291212 · 04/12/2013 11:00

Probably around 300k for a minimum 3 bed, or is that a bit optimistic?

Try lewes if you have the cash it has great links to London but shoe boxes are pricey. People say good things about hay wards Heath and that is near brighton but a lovely town with very good links to London.

How about Hove?
