Did the dutiful thing and told the insurers we were having an extension built.... and they've only gone and cancelled the policy!!! I did not expect this. Help!

Really bog standard single story extension, professional builders, architects and structural engineers all engaged, written JCT contract. With the 30 days notice we are so kindly getting, there will be a month to go of work. Will we get cover from anyone???

this is unusual. they would normally just exclude any claims in relation to the work and theft cover. who is it with? I'd complain!

The small print on some of the exclusions can be quite unhelpful eg no boarded windows, heating on or drained. We ended up going for a specialist company - rennovation plan I think - because they would ensure when empty (this doesn't sound relevant to you). They were expensive but comprehensive. If you have a broker you already use go back to them - I tried using one suggested by the insurance trade body and they incensed me!!
