Relocating: Ipswich, Newark or lincoln

Hello,
I'm looking to relocate after my divorce, cannot afford to buy in Essex, for the past 6 months I have looked around Ipswich. My budget is £100,000.
I'm now looking further afield. What are these towns like. I want to maintain the relationship with my daughter so good train links back to London are vital. I would prefer to live in a town and use public transport I have never been further than Derby. Any advice would be appreciated.

I know Newark and Lincoln well, I should visit both and see what you think. Both are friendly, Newark a bit better for trains as it's on the main line. Lincoln a bit bigger town with more going on. (well my mum complains about it constantly but she hasn't moved in 40 years )
I expect you would easily get a terraced house or small modern one for your budget, if it's just you.

Sorry, Lincoln is a city of course! Honest I knew that.

Do you have a preference?
The train link from Newark is a big positive and is also much closer.
I will have to spend time in each town just to get a sense of the place.
Are there more work opportunities in Newark.

I think either are big enough to find a job if you have experience of something mainstream, both have schools, hospitals supermarkets etc. Lincoln is bigger, it has a university and a lot more industry, the cathedral etc, so that would give you more choice.

It's had to be objective because I have family that live in both!

IIRC it's a 25-30 minute small train from Lincoln to Newark, it's timed so it connects with the London train. It's a bit extra on the journey but manageable.

I was really surprised at the numbers of sub £100,000 properties in Newark, this is a real draw for me.

Money is going to be an issue as I also have a health issue, I may physically struggle to work and The cheaper the property allows me a greater financial buffer
