Carpets or wood flooring in the bedroom?

We had laminate in our last house and found it really low maintanence.
So far, we can't decide if we are going to have bamboo or oak flooring downstairs.
We live in a 1970s house with a long hallway, I am looking at herringbone pattern and drooling over it.

My asthma has been playing up since moving n the new house which has old carpets and there is some building work going on with dust.

This made me think if we can just put wooden flooring upstairs as well.

Any thoughts?

We have wood throughout but nice fluffy rugs by the beds to step on to, don't miss carpet at all.

For me I would never fit laminate in a bedroom again. Fitting laminate doesn't eliminate dust. It seems to always be gathering somewhere especially under beds or behind doors.

I think carpets feel nicer on bare feet... if you're fitting a new carpet then you won't have those dust problems for quite some time. By the time the carpet is giving you grief with years of accumulated grot and mites, hopefully it will be time to get a new one Grin

What age is the house? Sand and seal the boards!

Whoops Blush check the quality of the boards.

I think it depends on how warm you want it, if there is a fear or making too much noise when walking about upstairs.

I really wanted laminate/wood flooring throughout my home, but I've found carpet to much much warmer a little better on sound control and just as easy to hoover as it is to sweep/mop.

Carpet all the way :)
