Do our insurers need to know if water dripping through ceiling?

I've just told the flat above us and asked them to call an emergency plumber (seems to be an unseen leak in their bathroom) but is there anything else I need to do? Will their insurers take care of this as their fault or do I talk to ours?

Thanks so much if anyone can help, feeling a bit ignorant !!

(The wall in our children's bedroom is soaked and the paint damaged so apart from the wet being sorted it will also need redecorating)

yes. This is more than just a quick dab of white paint!

Thank you! Do you mean no need to notify ours too? That's what DH thinks.

yes - call them and see what they advise.

If it's flats, you should both be covered under the same building insurance policy? Put them on notice of a claim, get two quotes and get upstairs to pay for the excess.

This is brilliant, thank you. I'll do this
