Ikea Akerby Worktop

I am in final stages now of sorting my kitchen - hood and dishwasher have arrived and rest of kitchen due to arrive in a couple of weeks. All I really need to sort now is the worksurfaces.
Just wondering if anyone has had the Ikea Akerby worktops before - they have a thin veneer of wood on the top so have the appearance of solid wood, but are supposedly pretty much maintenance free.
I would be keen on this as they would come to £300 and I have £200 of giftcard so would hardly have to pay anything for them really.
The other option would probably be the Howdens oak effect laminate but would be £300 of real money!
If anyone has the Akerby worktops I would love to hear about them as online reviews for Ikea worktops are quite varioable, but cannot see any reviews for the Akerby itself.

Why not the real wood ones? The maintenance really isn't that much, oiling every six months or so and if you burn it, sand it back and oil.

I used to do mine before bed so that it was dry in the morning. I miss those work tops so bad. Wish the damn builder would hurry up and build my kitchen.

we're having this - we're on a budget so couldn't afford the full wood. My understanding is it needs treating just as wood because the veneer is real wood - the fact it's only5mm or whatever doesn't make much difference, it still needs oiling or sealing etc.
I think it looks a really good product for the price.

Lagan isn't any more expensive and is solid wood.

thanks, am actually ruling out Ikea one's now as have one long side to the kitchen so as their worktops are a max of 2.6m long would need more joins - think I am going to go for the laminate Howdens one's after all. I love the look of wood, but am a very slapdash and clumsy person, so I just know the wood will look rubbish quickly
