Where shouldn't we buy in the Southend area?

Me and OH about to buy a house in the Southend area. Looking at Prittlewell. My parents grew up round there and say it's dodgy. Is that still the case? Is there anywhere else round there we should steer clear of? We've got a young family and are moving in for the good schools, affordable housing and wanting to be by the sea!

Anywhere right by the Kursaal estate! I live in central southend and my dad lives near Priory park. Both areas aren't the best but they are affordable and we've never had any problems. If you are looking for schools, my DD goes to Hamstel it's brilliant Grin

Thanks for the tip! We had an offer on a house in Westcliff Grin Not the best street but we settled for better house rather than smaller house in posher location. Excited!

The area around Southchurch Park is lovely although this is Thorpe Bay borders so houses are a little bit higher than other areas. Conservation area in the town centre is lovely too.

Westcliffe is lovely (much nicer than prittlewell IMHO) but like you say it can vary wildly from street to street. Ex had a beautiful flat on the seafront in Westcliffe. I miss that flat more than him.

Goos luck with the move!

Thanks! Can't wait to move Grin the conservation area was lovely but houses seemed to be at least £50k higher
