Hi, I have been quoted £450 to remove an old radiator, supply a new one and reposition new one involving altering pipe work. Does this sound like a lot? My instinct says yes! Many thanks

Is it just a case of extending existing pipework or taking up floor etc? Have you got a break-down of the quote and how much the rad costs? Is it a non standard design or size? Sounds a bit high if it's just moving the rad along the wall a bit but don't forget whoever does it will have to drain down the system and re-pressurise (at least for a combi) which takes time. Interested because I want to do this in the house we are buying!

i dont think it sounds too bad - does that iunclude the price of the new radiator?

We one replaced in our lounge last year.
We bought our own radiator as we didn't like the ones he could supply. We went with a modern aluminium vertical radiator which was about £300. He charged us £200 to fit it. It didn't move far though, just the other side of the pipe work (which is exposed). He said it would of cost more if all the pipework had been in the floor.

I`d say it depends on how far its moving, how easy the pipework is to move and what kind of radiator you were wanting.

Thanks everyone, this is really useful. Going by what you've all said then it is probably a fair quote.

We're having our usual plumber remove one radiator, replace another (we've already got the new one) including moving it several feet, and service our boiler... He's charging us £200 in all. Now i think he might be robbing himself!

We got a quote from people we trust to remove our hall radiator from one wall and replace it with a much larger new one on the opposite wall, £400. Think your quote is spot on.
