painting a kitchen cupboard side in blackboard paint

I LOVE the look of a wall painted in blackboard paint in the kitchen, but I don't really have a wall to do this on. But I do have a side of a cupboard.
My kitchen isn't painted, it's a Howdens Burford (Light Oak I think), which tbh I hate, it's 7 years old starting to look tatty and is very orange think towie I'm really tempted to paint the whole thing but I think my DH might kill me!
Has anyone painted a cupboard like this with blackboard paint?... did you DH kill you?

I haven't painted a kitchen cupboard but I have painted two of my children's closet doors with chalkboard paint. It was easy! Sand, prime. Let dry and then paint. It took three coats to get the really black look but it works really well.

And no, DH didn't kill me!
