Paint colour for small downstairs toilet no windows?

We're repainting our tiny toilet which has no windows. Grey floor tiles. No window. White pipes. White sink and toilet.

What should I go for? Bold, jewel colour or pale, like lilac? Want it to be fun but not make space smaller or annoying!

Pale as possible. Jazz it up with accessories -towels/wall art etc.

What is your favourite colour? Pick that.

Usually deaper colours will make a space looker smaller, but it's a tiny space that you probably won't spend too much of the day in, so a splash of colour won't hurt.

You could go for pale, or really dark and cosy. I think a small toilet is a great place to do something really different, such as putting up a statement wallpaper like www.wallpaperdirect.com/products/graham-and-brown/beside-the-seaside/89784 or www.wallpaperdirect.com/products/harlequin/brighton/74405 or you could do pale blue like F & B Borrowed Light with white mirror/accessories for a beachy look, or very dark like F & B Downpipe (dark grey) with black , gold or jewel colours for a baroque look. What about using it as a gallery for lots of family photos? or paper it with superhero comics/sheet music etc?

Dark red. If it's a tiny room, then nothing is going to make it look bigger so you may as week go for warm and dramatic.

Ours is bright yellow to liven it up a bit

I'm not a fan of dark colours in small rooms so I'd agree with OP who said pale walls and colourful accessories.

That said with no window you will be turning the light on in there all the time anyway?

We used Dulux Light and Space in our loo and I think it did help with making it feel less closed in.

I would also go with a really great deep colour or some mad wallpaper! Make it fun love the suggested papers!

I am with more boils, borrowed light for a fresh clean classic light duck egg type look or down pipe for a striking dramatic look, otherwise my favourite colour is elephants breath.

Any grey works well with white - can you match your flooring ?!?!
... Maybe create a faux window. if you use a SAD light box it will defuse the light from the bulb enough to look pretty convincing ! Pick up an old stained glass window from a salvage yard or ask at the local double glazing place ? Build the wall out enough to inset the light box and maybe create a niche below for shelving or extra storage - add a hinge to the glass frame so you can change bulbs - And voila - suddenly you can use any paint you like !!!

( you might need an electrician to wire the box in as there shouldn't be any plug sockets in your WC )!

OnePlan - great idea but such a tiny toilet, it's not possible to build out...

I'm going to go against the grain here, but we painted our downstairs loo in a darkish grey. We retiled the splash back with light grey/white mosaic tiles and it looks great with the white loo and pedestal.

As we have three DSs (and my DP!) it hides a multitude of sins and we've had a lot of positive comments on it. It doesn't feel smaller than before and it looks very stylish.

We put in a new mirror and stainless steel towel rail/loo roll holder too, which helps to break up the grey-ness too. I bought new hand towels in a grey colour too, so it's all co-ordinated.

The wallpaper idea isa fab one love the idea of a quirky wallcovering in such a small space.

Must admit I love that loo wallpaper!

I'm normally mrs pale neutral but am veering towards the "nothing is going to make it look any bigger anyway" camp with my own downstairs loo. I've got quite a few dusty purpleish samples on the wall but they're looking a bit muddy. I'm thinking of Velspar for B&Q (certain stores only) Bunch of blooms which is pinkish but not in a garish way.

It's making me rethink my ideas for the downstairs loo at my new house. It's quite a large room.... I'm going to keep coats and bags in there too as there's a big cupboard. Perhaps I should make an effort to make it more interesting?!

I also think dark grey.
No point trying to make it look light so why not celebrate the dark and moody look.
Also grey is very smart against white sanitary ware and chrome fittings. Have a look here for a good example
