Revamping Cloakroom

PastaBeeandCheese · 05/11/2013 19:11

I move next week and whilst the property has gorgeous new bathrooms the downstairs cloakroom is straight out the 80's including peach toilet and sink!

In trying to budget and I'm hoping someone could share with me what they have paid labour wise for replacing toilet, replacing sink with a fitted unit and tiling to floor where there is currently carpet. I would paint the room myself and tile a splash back.

DH and i are DIY enthusiasts and have done basic plumbing before but with a toddler and another due in Feb I think we need to get used to the idea of professional help!

about £250 for loo and basin - no cupboards.
having our bathroom lino'dfor £150 - approx twice as big as downstairs loo.

south Birmingham.

hope that's helpful?

Thank you. That's really helpful. It's a lot less than I thought. Mind you, looking through archives re cost of a whole bathroom as a comparison point and that is less than I thought too.

I think I have a tendency to over estimate how much things cost when it comes to tradesmen as I am used to DIY!

better that way than the other! we were pleasantly surprised too. shame about all the other stuff we found when we started playing with the plumbing

I think it has to do with the fact it takes us so much longer to do things I start to think 'if I had to charge an hourly rate' and the fear of tradesman's costs sets in.

I've been through the house of horrors thing here so I know how that feels.
