HELP I need to divide my kids bedroom!!

Hi all,

I have 3 DC and only 3 bedrooms and it is starting to be a big problem. The 2 boys (aged 2 & 7.5) share and my daughter has the smallest room, as you can see there is a fairly big age gap between my oldest and youngest and now that my youngest is going through the terrible 2's and my oldest is starting to grow in to a grump the house is chaos as neither have their own space.

We were thinking of dividing the room so they both have their own space but have no idea where to start, We don't really want any major building work and don't have a lot of money to spend so does anyone have any useful ideas? I don't necessarily need a permanent divide but I do need it to be very strong as my 2yr old is VERY adventurous!

Many Thanks in advance

can you use wardrobes or book shelves to divide?
making sure the floor is level and maybe fixing them to the wall so the can't topple over?
how old is your dd? if she's closer in age to ds1 maybe it would make more sense for her to share with him and let toddler have the smallest room.

How about using one of the ikea expedit units- the biggest one? Then you have storage as well. Look on pinterest there's loads of ideas.

How old is your daughter? If she's between the boys, maybe the answer is that she and the elder boy share until the youngest has grown up a bit.

ikea expedit might work, but would need to bolted to the wall, in case of climbing. you can also add drawers etc, so a bit of privacy, would also help with storage issues.

you could put up a false wall which Is fairly easy to do.

what is the dimesions of the room you are looking to divide? there is one bedroom in my house would could be divided as long, but would mean no natural light at one end. the others couldn't be done easily.

Second the Ikea !
Just bought one for my boys bedrooom, its has 25 shelves or Drona boxesso, plenty of space to keep their precious stuff...
Pssst...look at Bargain Corner, I got it there 1/2 price,

A stud partition is not expensive...

Thanks for all of the replies, I think I may try the ikea idea Smile my DD is 3 so she is closer to the youngest, however my youngest is a real hand fall and is quite aggressive towards her, however he adores the oldest so is annoying rather than aggressive!
