Suspending Ikea hanging chairs

I'm thinking of getting the Ekorre or Svinga for DS who has ASD. But he's 7 now so the fitting needs to be secure enough to handle him as he gets older. I'd rather not install it myself, would a handyman type service be able to find the right place to fix the hooks and make sure it's secure enough for his weight? Or do I need something like a structural engineer? We live in a purpose-built newbuild flat. I would use the Ikea Ekorre hooks but what kind of screws would I be looking for?

Not sure I would fit either of these in a British home. Unless you are absolutely sure you can find the wooden skeleton structure in the ceiling. Joists?

These are pretty easy to locate in Scandinavian houses, which usually have white paneled ceilings and you can work out where the joist are by looking at the interlock of the panels (they would usually be over the joists)

a joiner would be able to fit these no problem. you just need to find the joist in the roof which shouldnt be a big problem to someone who had the right skills.

Thanks all. I'm assuming that there must be joists in our ceiling but although I've seen those stud finder devices, I definitely wouldn't trust myself to locate them. I wouldn't mind paying someone to assess the building and give a quote. Any suggestions on how to find a suitable joiner? I don't think I know anyone local who's needed similar work, I'd just be finding someone on Google otherwise but I'd rather have a personal recommendation.

We've got ekorre outside on a tree but a joist should be similar. Don't think we used special screws and it takes our 15yr old's weight! A local handyman would be able to do it , does your church magazine carry any adverts

Thanks Lizs, that sounds promising. We aren't churchgoers but we do have adverts in the local shops - I'll see if there are handyman adverts on there.
