I'm sorry, this could probably count as a stealth boast but I had to persuade my builders to go home at 7pm last night, and they arrived back here this morning at 7.40. They were cracking on so the plastering could be done today (before the plasterers started another, much bigger job).

This is such a pleasant experience - the ones we've previously used would have done half a day today and knocked off saying "you now need to find a plasterer, call us when its done".

If anyone's in the frozen north west and wants a recommendation then please drop me a pm.

Also marking place for any London (particularly SE London) recommendations for builders and architects!

DIddled where are you? Your project sounds like our extension plans!

We're in SW London and once our builders are finished I'd also be happy to recommend highly. They are polite, charming, friendly, clean, efficient, conscientious and do a great job. The job is also way ahead of schedule. Thank goodness for the Polish, I think they are a tough act to follow.

Also having/had a fantastic builder in SW London. He's not dirt cheap, but not top dollar, he's amazing to deal with, well ahead of schedule and they clean up after themselves perfectly. Very pleasant people working with him too! Feel spoilt we got so lucky!

Whereabouts in the NW? My fabulous builders in Chester have just finished, did an amazing job in less time than expected, were clean and tidy and polite and unobtrusive - I usually hate having people in my house but I am quite missing them now they have finished! (Stockholm syndrome?!) Anybody in Cheshire or thereabouts I can hand on heart recommend them and happy to PM details.

I'm in SE London too and am halfway through a project with fantastic builders. Polite, friendly, hardworking team with a boss full of ideas and dedicated to getting stuff just right. Not the cheapest, although he's saving us lots on fittings with his trade discounts, but certainly not the most expensive either. Always mindful of our budget.
