Hi,

Im hoping someone can help me with this.

I have a LG american fridge freezer. Its the non plumb version.

I ve had this fridge freezer since June. In the last 3 months i ve had a horrible musty smell coming and going in the kitchen. I couldnt work out were it was coming from. Today i ve got on my hands and knees and smelt all round the kitchen and the smell is coming from the side of the fridge freezer. Confused

There is no cupboards next to the fridge, its stood by itself.

Does anyone know why its doing this?

Are you able to move it to see if there is water pooling underneath it ?!

I would also think its something underneath.

If you can unplug it and pull it away from the wall, you will find a water dish on top of the motor, where defost water drips to evaporate away. Clean it out. If food waste, especially meat joices, get into the frost water, they decay.

It is much easier to move a FF if you unpack the food first.

I ve contacted LG who are sending an engineer out on monday.

I ve pulled the fridge out, water tray seemed fine. Very strange.

are you sure it's not the wall/floor beside the fridge? maybe a mouse died inside the wall or under floorboards where the fridge is? If you have wooden boards then it's especially an option. Or it could be a leaking pipe inside that wall.

The fridge is free standing with nothing against it at either side for at least 50 inches. I dont have floorboards, its chip board. If i put my nose against the fridge, the smell is really strong.

The smell comes and goes.

Had a similar thing with a smell coming and going and suspected the fridge. Pulled it out and couldn't find anything underneath. Smell continued to come and go for weeks and then disappeared. Months later I found the skeletal remains of a mouse trapped at the back of the motor Shock .
