Anyone got a Marks and Spencer Abbey sofa? I'm interested in the chaise corner sofa but can't find one on display to look at.

Wondered what the quality is like and if you would recommend?

TIA

We have a leather one. It's about 8 years old now. I don't love it, it looks fine - has worn very well - but I don't find it very comfy, it's a bit too firm to really snuggle down on IYSWIM (although the leather will not be helping that). I'd like to sell it and buy something more squashy, but DH likes it.

PS the quality is good though, it is well made no we've had no problems with it.

Thanks for the reply abigailtakesthewheel

Had mine seven years, just looking at my two vv boisterous dogs kipping on it now :)

It's had some hammer, dogs, kids DIY - after a weekly wipe with leather wipes and a bit of a shake up of the back cushions , it looks great still. It has a few surface scratches but they are barely visible- and they kind of disappear after a while. I recommend the BRonco leather though as I don't think the other 'fine leather' would be as hard wearing.

Thanks DIddled good to hear someone else saying the quality is good Smile

Now to convince DH!

I have the fine leather one, had it for 13 years (although not as main sofa for last 5) and it's in perfect nick.

Have a non-leather one. Possibly the most uncomfortable sofa I've ever had. Must be about 8 or 9 years old. Maybe it's just that it has cushions that need to be plumped up each day but aren't.

Clayhead · 31/10/2013 12:37

We've got the Bronco leather too, it's eight years old as as good as new despite all that family life/young kids has chucked at it. I think it's dead comfy and I've never had to plump the cushions! (know how annoying this is as our last settee needed it daily).

Hi. I would recommend googling for reviews. My friend bought 2 earlier this year and the cushions 'collapsed'. When an assessor came out to see if he told her there was a lot of recent complaints about these sofas. He told her that apparently M&S had changed suppliers and were using cheaper fillings....or something like that. So look for newer reviews.
I am worried about it as I bought a leather one earlier this year (before my friend had problems) and it hasn't had much use yet because of the room we have put it in. I was hoping it would last for 10 years at least!

That's not good - but sounds like they are onto it though. As I speak mine is thick with builder dust and a dog is perched next to me on the chair arm like a bloody parrot!!!

MrsAlwaysRight · 31/10/2013 17:19

Thanks for all the replies - will check the recent reviews now

We have two of the biggest size bronco leather sofas, and a love seat in fabric. They are 3 or so years old and look as new. I find them a bit too firm for sitting properly on, but lovely for slouching!

MrsAlwaysRight · 01/11/2013 20:48

Thanks HappyAsEyeAm lovely for slouching on sounds good to me!

We've got the leather ones....the quality is excellent, still looks good after 4 years. I love them.

MrsAlwaysRight · 02/11/2013 17:40

Thanks sarahandduck Smile

We have two, I absolutely love them!

RubyLovesShopping · 02/11/2013 21:11

We have 2 in the chenille fabric bought 12 years ago. They're in the doc playroom now but for 5 years were in our living room. They have worn well but the cushions have flattened a lot, possibly due to all the kids jumping around on them these days. I feel we've had good value for money from them.

ouryve · 02/11/2013 21:13

We considered Abbey, but decided we preferred the Urbino full corner sofa. It's lovely, though I can't comment on the longevity, as we've only had it 3 weeks!
