Curtain panels vs roller blinds

We have two sets of patio doors at the back of the house, and would like to put some blinds or similar up to add a bit of colour and provide some insulation. I've seen people on here mention curtains panels (e.g. the Ikea ones), but am assuming that once they are up they are just up and don't retract - is this correct? Am thinking the easiest option will be roller blinds, but quite big area, approx 250cm x 150 cm. Any other bright ideas? Both doors open outwards and have a bit at the top which is just glass rather than door. Don't want to do curtains. Thanks.

I think the ikea panels slide over one another, so you can "open" them to an extent, just by having all of the layered over each other. It might work if you had the runner overshooting the patio doors, so when you want to see out, you slide the panels right over to the wall.

I'd still be inclined to go for really nice roller blinds, which are virtually unnoticeable when they're rolled up. You might want to do two blinds to span that distance, but if you've got double doors, I think that looks fine. For such a large expanse, get something you really love. I'm shaping up to get some roller blinds made out of some incredible fabric I found a few months ago. Worth it, I think.

It depends what room is like. Ours is south-facing and can be partially seen from another house. I am making thermal blackout roller blinds sitting inside the window and light linen voile curtains that can provide when needed some privacy and/or shield from sun.

Thanks for your replies. I don't think the panels would works as I would need something to open upwards rather than to the side due to space. Finding it hard to imagine two blinds over the space, but have a cat door in one set, so would potentially work well there. Agree that it needs some really nice fabric, which I have found. Now I just have to find the ££££.
