Building new 30s front door and frame - any recommendations

Our 30s house has had a horrible 60s door misfitted into a very poor adapted frame. You can literally see daylight around it and it's far from secure.

We'd really like an original 30s door but also looking at having a reproduction one made (as security and strength will be better).

Anyone got any recommendations for doormakers or joiners? We're in Surrey.

Thanks

Ha! Grin I'm in Surrey and also looking for a front door for a 1930s bungalow.

CointreauVersial - we had Cotswood Doors out to quote. Really liked them and their work looks good, but pricey. So need at least another quote as comparison.

I think Howdens do doors - have requested brochure but nothing 30s from what i could see

We just had a door through from Doordeals.co.uk. It is unfinished and then needs putting in by a joiner but seemed a reasonable price, I think! Online reviews seemed fine, but we have yet to see what it's like in situ. They have quite a good range of 30s style (quite liked the sunburst but wasn't brave enough) and do bespoke sizes, prehung doorsets etc. See here: www.doordeals.co.uk/products/external-doors/glazed-external-doors.aspx?page=5& . The Wordsworth and Shaw look most 30s to me? Good luck! We were just replacing a back door as we managed to find replacement glass in the end to refurbish our front door.
