At the moment we live in the middle of rural Gloucestershire. Our children have left home, and we have both retired. I've been wanting to move for some time - we've been here for 20 years and I'd like a change of scene, and my DH is happy with that. The house is also a moneypit and the garden, while lovely, takes up loads of our time.
So, we've just had an offer accepted on a modern house with a tiny garden in the centre of Bristol (on the Harbourside). Part of me is really excited, but a little voice is asking me if I'm doing the right thing. Has anyone else moved like this? did it work?

I haven't done it myself, but just want to say, good choice with Bristol - and the harbour is one of the best places. Much more to do on winter eves than there is in the country: great restaurants, pubs, concerts, museums, and The Old Vic getting going after the refurb. Also Bath not far for more music/theatre/shops. Connections are better to visit places out of town. Airport 20 min by taxi to do a bit more travelling.
If you are not so keem on having/looking after a garden, then it sounds like the right choice.
