Good size garden facing East, good or bad?

Have looked at a semi with garden facing a East. It backs onto other long garden. Is on right hand side of the pair. Would you say it would make house too cold/garden too shady? So many on the market seem to have this aspect!

Our garden is like that. Parts are nice and sunny, but the South half of the garden can be very shady (especially in the winter), our neighbours on the South side have some very tall trees. In the summer it's not a problem.

So I would say it depends a lot of what's on the South side, and what's in your own garden.
