Help need front door colour advice TONIGHT and must be a Little Greene colour

I've had my front door colour painted in Little Greene's Bone China Blue (the mid version) and I think it doesn't look right.
I will stick a photo on my profile page in a moment but it somehow looks ok in the photo as it appears slightly darker in that than it is. I think it looks insipid and too 1950s for a Victorian red brick house. In case my photo doesn't go in the gallery, it is a red brick house and the front door is a traditional panelled wide one with a few windows at the top, dark old brass (i.e. not shiny) letterbox and a white wood door frame.

Please can someone advise on which colours from here might work better: www.littlegreene.com/paint/colour/show-all

It needs to be LG as they have oil-based eggshell whereas most other brands are water based and the door gets very weathered and they don't last as well. Plus I can get that mixed before the decorator comes tomorrow at 10.30am!!

Well, I like it. Looks fresh. Can you live with it for a bit and see if it is a grower?

What about this colour?

I love the existing colour.
If you like Blue how about LG Juniper Ash?

allfrontandnodoorcolour · 08/10/2013 20:01

Yes maybe re Juniper Ash.

I really like it too!! But you say it looks better in the pic.

I do like that darker blue you linked to, it would look good too I think.

allfrontandnodoorcolour · 08/10/2013 21:38

The darker blue looks gorgeous in that interior wall but I'm not so sure for a front door and with the red brick so near.

Argh don't know what to do!

Yes it definitely looks nicer in the photo and when it was sunny it looked insipid. But maybe with a second coat it might darken a little.

I like aquamarine-deep.

I have to agree that the door as it is would be a little insipid for my taste too.

Zoe567 · 08/10/2013 22:19

I like it, but if it's lighter than it looks in the photo it could be 'bolder' and I would choose bolder too. Your front door and your house look beautiful though!

Zoe567 · 08/10/2013 22:23

I second aquamarine deep.

peachypips · 08/10/2013 22:29

I like it. Other choices:
Pearl Colour Dark

Or

Carys (if you are feeling very brave!)

peachypips · 08/10/2013 22:34

Aquamarine Deep is good too. Not as sure about the juniper ash...

allfrontandnodoorcolour · 08/10/2013 22:36

Goodness at Carys! That would be brave. But I have a really irrational hatred of the colour yellow (due to hideous 70s bedroom decor in yellow when I was a child...scarred for life!)

Quite like the grey but we had similar before.

Sooooo...I need to decide, leave it as it is (well with the second coat tomorrow) and we can always change it later or go for the Juniper Ash?

Have gone for French Grey Dark in the end...hope I like this one. We are a nightmare with paint and always end up messing up and having it redone.
