Opinions needed - what colour for my front door?

We are replacing our horrible aluminum door on our end of terrace and we can't decide on a colour.

Our house is painted grey with white edging around the stone windows so only a few colours would compliment the house.

At the moment, the only colours we like are these blue tones from F&B

Stiffkey Blue
Cook's Blue
Pitch Blue

I like Stiffkey blue but my husband prefers Cook's Blue. I think a neighbour of ours has a front door colour similar to Cook's Blue and I'd rather not have the same colour. I'm finding it difficult to work out whether what colour goes with a "grey" house...advice/opinions urgently needed please!!

What about yellow? Yellow and grey go together

Deep dark glossy purple. It's not one of your choices but it's the colour i'd paint my own front door if it wasn't white plastic!

I've never seen a door that didn't look lovely and welcoming in red though.

F&B Brassica would look great

is it exposed to the sun and weather, or in a porch?

Is it part-glazed?

Do you want chrome, brass or black furniture?

TigerBabyyy Doris I think yellow might be a bit too bright for me although think DH might like it so will suggest to him..

nancerama I like your suggestion of purple and will get a sample of Brassica as you suggested chartreuse

i have pitch blue front door. very nice but i bought it to match my floor tiles in the porch. looks very nice.

Piglet - what is your advice for a door that is very exposed to the elements? Will a lighter shade help?

Gloss oil paint, which is most durable, but if it is exposed to sun, not black (cracks more due to heat) or red (fades and ages fast).

Aluminium wood primer on the bare wood is especially durable under the oil undercoat and gloss.

Oils and stains, and especially varnish, need a lot of maintenance if exposed to weather.

I wonder if painting the doorframe white to match the window surrounds would consolidate the look.
