We live in a Victorian house with exposed wooden floorboards. They are very characterful, lots of marks and dents and so on.
I have no idea whether they are waxed or varnished or sealed or anything. They get mopped regularly with wooden floor cleaner, but since we have been in the house 5 years now I wonder if they need some more attention. I am extremely ignorant.
They have stopgap draught stuff between them, no insulation underneath, and we've decided not to put carpet down for warmth as the underlay might damage the boards further(? the carpet guy said it would be tacked down in small squares?). Plus we like them.
Any thoughts? Please explain like I'm 5 as husband and I are both rubbish at all house related practical DIY stuff.
