Storing furniture for the medium term

We are planning to sell our house and then store our best bits of furniture for a couple of years until we move back to UK. I've checked out Big Yellow Storage but I'm guessing there's a premium for having regular access which we won't actually need. All we want is some safe, reliable not-too-extortionate space either in or not too far from Surrey. Any ideas anyone?!

no such thing as cheap storage, especially not near Surrey. Try a smaller chain in an unfashionable area. Do not, whatever you do, put the stuff in containers as it will be wrecked. It needs to be in proper climate-controlled storage.

TBH, unless you have valuable antiques it will cost you more to store the stuff for this period than it will to buy new.
