Is having your toilet behind the bathroom door a bad idea?

We're about to renovate our bathroom, and currently the toilet is behind the door. It's a very small bathroom, but we've never found a problem with this positioning. Our neighbour (who's house has the same layout) however, thinks it's terrible. She says her boys are always flinging the door open which then bashes against the loo. We don't have any kids, but our first is on the way.

So should we be looking to move the toilet? Bearing in mind it's much easier to keep it where it is, and so far we've not had a problem with it.

We could just switch the way the door opens, of course, but then the first thing you see when you open it is the loo, which probably isn't a good idea.

You could get a floor mounted door stop to prevent the door banging against the loo, surely? Or one of those restrictor hinges on the door to prevent it being over extended?

Finding a way to stop the door banging against the loo must be cheaper than resiting the loo.

Resiting your loo is a total PITA. Just stick a nice floor mounted door stop in. Our bath is behind the door in our ensuite, but sometimes it's the only way to get things into a small space. I would quite like not to have to see the loo as the first thing when I open the door actually.

I can imagine I'd be forever falling over a floor mounted door stop! But we've never had a problem with anyone banging the door against the loo, so I think I've imagined a problem.

Thanks guys!
