So the packers come next Wednesday - so I don't need to actually pack much (if at all) but, I really need to get as organised as possible.

I am however a huge bit of a hoarder -so help me out here, how ruthless do I need to be?

Would you keep or bin.....

1)postcards sent to the DCs
2)thank you cards with photos of other people's DCs/babies
3)maps/guides/leaflets from travels
4)DCs art work
5)empty boxes for lego/playmo/appliances etc

What else should I be thinking of doing in the next few days?

Thanks in advance and a big kick up the bum needed

All of the above should be thrown or you will drown in "stuff" but it is really up to you, not me!

Bin them all.

You can scan 1, 2 and 4 and keep a electronic copy. That's what I've been doing. But I'm a ruthless declutterer. Only thing stopping me is DH being a hoarder.

I'm in the same position. It's hard isn't it. My problem is clothes. At the moment I have:
clothes for now
Summer clothes (3 laundry bags)
clothes that I am too fat for (to wear in Spring) (2 bags)
clothes that I am too fat for (Summer etc) (2 bags)
baby boy clothes to give back to my sister (1 bag)
boy clothes to grow into (9 mths+) (2 laundry bags)
girls clothes to keep in case sister has baby (3 or 4 bags)
girls clothes 3 years+ (organised into seasons and ages) (3 or 4 bags)

I'm trying to chuck any clothes that make me look scruffy/won't wash well.

I'm going to give some food tins to Food Bank.
I'm going to give some furniture away on Facebook page.
I am going to put some things on ebay this weekend.

I am learning a BIG lesson about buying things I don't need.

I am taking photos and keepsakes/momentos for me to sort and put in albums when I get there.

We are getting packers too, but it's scary isn't it, knowing that people will go through your entire house and will might find things in strange places. I'm just trying to concentrate on tidying and throwing out.

Good luck, we can do it!

I was horrifed at how much stuff we ended up putting into storage when we moved (we're in between houses) and I haven't missed ANY of it. And that was after two months of chucking out. Be ruthless!

I decided to rotate the kids toys last year. When clearing out the garage I found a whole laundry bag FULL of toys that I had completely forgotten about and they hadn't missed. They went to the charity shop.
