Someone just told us our buyers mortgage was declined...

We had and accepted an offer on our house weeks ago. They were really keen and excited about moving in asap. It is now almost the moving day and the house sale is not complete although our solicitors are adamant that the sale WILL go through and soon.

Today OH was talking to a colleague at work who says he somehow knows the couple buying our house and they say they didn't get the "loan" to buy our house. WTF? I was saying maybe they have the mortgage but need a loan of some description to pay the deposit otherwise why are we still being strung along weeks later?

No smoke without fire n all that. The work colleague is someone he would believe but they did say "loan" and not mortgage.

Not fun to hear this and very p!ssed off if it is true...

phone call to solicitor/estate agent to check this out. I know our buyers had trouble getting a mortgage. They had to shop around but finally got one.

For some reason I think they must be trying to scrape together some funding to complete the sale as their solicitor keeps telling ours that everything is in order and there should be no probs completing on the date they chose as moving in day which is getting very close now!

Our solicitor was still waiting for a follow up call at close of business today so hopefully we will get somewhere tomorrow... been thinking that for an age now though.

I was starting to get very sentimental over our house and all we have done to it over the years to get it the way it is today until I heard the gossip this evening and suddenly I realise I want it to sell!!!

if they have exchanged and don't complete, you will at least get a fat wedge of cash to ease the pain.
