Would all these problems make you want to move?

We moved into our Victorian house 7 years ago...and were willing and prepared to redecorate throughout and replace the roof.

However since living here we've had floods in the cellar, leaks through the chimney breast, cracked drains, leaks on the central heating system (resulting in floorboards coming up), numerous rat/mice/wasp infestations...the list goes on.

Every time we think the house is nearly finished another problem appears!

Would you be tempted to move after spending so much time and money? It doesn't seem to bother DH, but I've just about had enough (probably because I'm the one who's at home dealing with the problems!).

You'll probably just end up with another load of problems to deal with...
We have a much newer house (1950s) but still have had problems with damp, mice, ants, wasps... And I shudder to think how much we have spent on trying to get the heating working properly - probably thousands and thousands. And it still isn't 100%.

Thanks cavell - I'm sure you are right. No house is perfect! I think I've been having a bad house day (lots of wasps emerging from a cupboard..so probably another nest in the loft ).

Should have added that we are trying to sell at the moment. Part of me is looking forward to leaving behind the problems with the heating and the damp and the mice in the loft. Everything seems to be okay at the moment, but it can surely only be a question of time before another problem rears its head.
No doubt our new property - if and when we eventually manage to move - will bring with it a new set of problems. Please not rats. .

Our house is circa 1995.... We've had to replace to boiler (budgeted for when moving), deal with more leaks than a colander (previous owner did all his own DIY and did not connect waste under bath , and did not use the correct plumbing fittings for our water pressure!) sort out dodgy electrics (again previous owner and his DIY disasters.... Only discovered when we had work done and the sparky said it was only luck we hadn't had a fire!), exterior drains backed up on Christmas Day due to coffee grounds and fat..... (Again previous owners!!!!) tree in garden had canker and we had to get rid.... I think with any house you need to do work to keep it up. We love our house, it's location and the area and are not planning on moving!!!
