High thread count duvet covers

Are they a pain to iron? I never iron mine, but they are only 200tc. I have seen the Duvet and Pillow Warehouse, much recommended here, have a good offer on their 800tc duvet range. Will it look rubbish without ironing?

Also, most of the high tc sets I have seen online have a sateen finish. I prefer something more matt. Do you know if the Duvet and Pillow W sets are too shiny? What's the quality like? Thanks.

They're an excellent company, with good customer service, and the quality is brilliant. Nothing bad to say about them at all.

Can't say about 800tc, I have had 200, 400, 1000 (my absolute favourite and on my bed now, maybe ten years later? No sign of bobbling, they just keep getting softer and more luxurious!) and 1600 (not from that retailer, from King of Cotton who are also fantastic). The lower weights I should have ironed, but I am a slattern. What I find with the higher weights is that they are a fantastic pita to launder and take an age to dry, but creases tend to flatten out over a day or so, and not really show. (Remember the slattern disclaimer).

Really, it depends on how fussy you are. 800 would benefit from an iron, but it's not essential by any means.

Thanks Oldlady - it sounds like they might not need much ironing, which was my main concern.

I have 600 not 800 (also from DAPW) and never iron them. I think they look fine. They are pretty matt, really good quality.

I find them a bit too thick though. I have their 400TC and actually like it better.

I think I would hate 1000tc!

Has anyone had the Dapw linens in cream? I much prefer cream to white but theirs looks very yellowy in the photos.

Lonecatwithkitten · 12/09/2013 11:13

I have the cream DPW 800 thread set and never iron it. When I dry it I take great care to pull it straight so there are no creases and then when on the bed I tug the last few crumpled out.
Life is too short to iron bed linen, DPW actually admit that those in the office who have this linen do just as I do if you look at the reviews.

Thanks. Lonecat, do you find the 800tc too cardboardy? Also, what shade is the cream?

Lonecat is it very yellowy cream - it looks it in the pics and I'd prefer a light cream.

I have the 600tc in cream and it's not too yellowy.
