Hi

We are looking to relocate to around this area and I am trying to find out about the schools. Where are the good ones, both primary and secondary?

Its likely that DH will be working in Inverness but doesn't mind an hour or so commute.

We want to be near the beach but also near to areas good for Mountain biking.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Hi my brother and family have lived in nethy bridge and Carr bridge, both within about 30 of Inverness. They love it up there, and although inland there is a big sandy beach at Loch Morlich. Great area for outdoor sports, walking, wildlife etc.
Not exactly what you asked for but maybe worth considering?
Nairn is quite close to Inverness with large sandy beaches, but I've no experience of living there. Might be worth looking at relevant mumsnet local board?

Thanks for your reply. I'll have a look at that area.

Anyone else?

Nairn is a nice town but I love Lossiemouth. Right on the beach, good schools. Amazing walks, nice community spirit but close to your hour from Inverness I think. Elgin may be?

Lossiemouth looks lovely. Do you or have you lived there crutchlow?

Yes yes yes to Nethybridge! Near enough to Aviemore for all the mountain biking loveliness that's there (plus the beach at Loch Morlich) but far enough away that you escape a lot of the touristy stuff. Primary school in the village and then bus to Grantown for secondary i think. I'd move there
tomorrow if I could!

There's a new ladies mountain biking group been set up there recently and the bike shops in Aviemore do group rides a couple of night a week too.

Not lived there but I have family who do. Spent many a happy time in Lossiemouth.

Oh I like the look of Nethybridge.

Boat of Garten is nice too, wee bit more touristy than Nethybridge, but 10 mins nearer the A9 for getting up to Inverness.

Can't beat Carrbridge.

Nairn has lovely beaches but agree that Lossiemouth is also nice.
