Exterior shutters for insulation and blocking light from Loft bedroom

Have just returned from holiday in France with the bright idea that these are the solution to our very hot bedroom - the windows are double glazed and blackout curtains are doing nothing much.

Anyone out there got these? I was thinking of those roll-down ones that come from a box fitted at the top of the window and travel down channels, but they are a bit utilitarian looking.

Whilst I don't want the Swiss Chalet look, I think traditional shutters might look better on our Victorian Terrace house - maybe panelled like our interior shutters we have in the lounge.

Any advice most welcome

You can have proper 'chemistry lab standard ' blackout blinds that fit in their own trunking like boxing (similar to a velux blind ) - they are a commercial ( schools and labs) product - but a good interior designer will have access to these for you - they work out at about £290 for a 120x 120cm window .
