Storing boxes in the garden, any ideas?

we l We moved yesterday (yay!!) Grin but we are totally renovating the new house and currently is full of boxes which makes things more difficult. We were wondering if we could put them on the patio in the garden.

How do you think we could do this and what should we do in order to weatherproof them enough.

Is there anything which shouldn't go outside at all?

Thanks!

You can use those big plastic storage crates with tight fitting lids. Get one piece lids not folding which let rain in. Some brands have the brand name pierced through the lid or box so they will get damp.

I wouldn't put anything electrical out there, any photos or filing (filing could be a big risk if anyone started rooting around in them to steal stuff!) or anything valuable.

you can get big tarpaulin things for covering garden furniture so that would cover them ok but I would suggest raising them up off the ground, those wooden pallet things or stand them on some bricks or something - keeps them out of puddles, less chance of snails/slugs/ants etc.

Get a Keter outdoor storage box. They are slightly fiddly to assemble but mine's not leaked yet. And they're lockable and UV-proof. Normal storage boxes do go brittle after a few months.

Eventually you could use it for bikes/garden chairs etc, once your house is sorted so wouldn't be a waste of money (they're not that cheap).

We've got the Store It Out XL which is about £100. At the moment has adult bike, child bike, scooter, three folding garden chairs, assorted toys and the old cot mattress which DS likes jumping on Grin and there's still space...

They also do sheds, which depending on number of boxes might be a better idea for you!
