How much did you pay for your building survey?

Just posted another question about surveys, kindly responded to already. Now wondering what it's normal to pay. Our new place is a 3 bed terraced house just under 500k. I've been quoted between 550 incl VAT and 1000 excl VAT. All RICS

We recently paid £525 for a full building survey. We phoned round a few to get quotes. Some were a bit cheaper but we went with one that sounded also went with the one who sounded the best informed on the phone.

I paid £585 incl vat for a homebuyer report, but also had to pay £599 for mortgage co valuation as they had to use their own person.
