Anyone had garage conversion?

We are thinking of converting our integral single garage into a kitchen as our exsisting kitchen is small & naff! Would make exsisting kitchen into utility/office/store. Just wondered if anyone has had a successful conversion & would recommend it? X

Yes, yes, yes! Ours was detached from the house, so cost more than converting an integral, but was worth every penny. Resulting room doesn't look at all garage-y, but the ceilings are a bit lower than the rest of the ground floor. It's not unbearably low, but my advice would be see if that would be true for you too, and if so could you live with that in the kitchen, where you probably spend a lot of time? If not, you could maybe think about incorporating the existing kitchen into the garage, and using part of the garage space for utility/store room.
