Can you get a new key or do you have to change the lock?

Am selling house and do not have a key to our porch door. Whether I ever had one, I can't recall, but we have never locked the porch. New buyer is asking about it. Is it possible to get a new key for a lock? Or do you have to change the whole lock? If you can get a new key, how do you go about it and what does it cost?

if you get a locksmith out they will probably just change the lock - they might be able to get a key but it may be more expensive than just changing the lock. we were charged £50 just for someone to come out and look at it and they changed the whole lock out.

what type of lock is it?

If its a yale type lock then you can just change the barrel cylinderthis sort of thing . I bought a new barrel for £9 in Wicks last week. Its very easy to change
