SCS Sofa Guard 5yr Peace of Mind?

I went into my local SCS yesterday to choose a leather corner sofa. First of all I was reluctant to get leather due to the cats and kids.

However, the enthusiastic sales chap informed me of their Guard Protection Plan which covers damage/defect for 5yrs. He went on to describe it as unlimited etc.

Having got home and read the small print, it says 'limited to one incident per claim period' if it is pet damage.

Can anyone share their experiences please?

We bought leather sofas from SCS about 4 or 5 years ago. We didn't take out any cover for them.

I have been lax in cleaning/polishing them too - but they look fine.

How much is the Protection Plan? If you think it is worth it then go for it. However some home contents insurance policies cover you for accidental damage anyway - so may be check up on that first?

Thank you for your reply.

The cover was £400 to protect the sofa for 5 yrs. However, the small print reads about a limit of just one claim if it is animal damage. The sales guy didn't tell me that!

My cats are generally well behaved, but I wanted the reassurance knowing my sofa would still look good in 5 yrs time.

I have since panicked and cancelled my sofa order. Felt SCS weren't being entirely honest with me Hmm

Don't know what to get now. Leather;fabric / corner; 2&3 seaters... Not sure whether to get new or hold out for a second hand one.
