My house is timber build and stained a very dark brown. The door is wooden and will be white inside with chrome handle, letter box etc. What colour would you choose?

Poppy red!

Is the house brown? that's quite hard to match to. a muted red. Definitely not poppy red! just my opinion of course but a more muted red would contrast with brown without looking too incongruous I think. or is it just the door that 's brown?

If it faces the sun, not black (it will expand and contract a lot with the heat, causing cracking) and not red (it fades and degrades quickly)

I like stained hardwood.

Shades of white are very popular. Modern white paints do not go yellow if they are exposed to daylight, even though some will go yellow indoors.

It is hard to match Beer! The house is dark brown. I'm probably going to be really boring and go with white. Just after some alternatives. I like the idea of red but poppy red might be a bit much!

Soft sage green?

cavell · 12/08/2013 10:27

I was going to say green, too.

HabitualLurker · 12/08/2013 15:19

Yes, green. Or a muted blue?

loraflora · 12/08/2013 16:08

I'd go for a soft green too.

imtheonlyone · 12/08/2013 16:17

I just decided last week that I was going to paint my front door too! Green is the only way to go IMHO Wink

Agree with soft sage green. I envy you the combination of colours.

Sage green, a heritage shade.
