A fruitless search for patterned vinyl flooring

I am currently having a large (ish) extension on my shoe box house and am searching for some bright and bold patterned vinyl floor to run through from the kitchen to the sun room. Ideally I would prefer sheet vinyl as I have a feeling that tiles won't last as long.

Of course I am on the look out for a bargain, Amtico out of budget I'm afraid :-( ta

have you looked in a local independent flooring supplier? they may be on an industrial estate rather than a high street or shopping centre, because their premises will be basically a warehouse. As well as a range on display, they will have a sample book of others you can order. A place that fits out offices and commercial kitchens will have durable flooring at a competitive price. Look in Yellow Pages. there will be at least one in your town.

I find the soft cushioned vinyls are not hard wearing, as they can suffer dents, scatches and punctures from heavy furniture or appliance. Dragging a cooker over cushionfloor will damage it. Dropping a kitchen knife will puncture it. It's OK in a bathrom. You must have a very flat, smooth and clean subfloor, possibly covered with thin ply (which is better than hardboard).

Harder and denser floorings are used in commercial environments but are more exensive and need professional fitting.

I saw a post in the home decoration section about a recommendation for playroom flooring. They had fantastic striped lino. Have requested some samples! Sorry I can't link ti the thread but it will be near, the top x

Buying amtico online is much cheaper. Have you looked? I have the large amtico floor tiles...

Google Harvey Maria. I agree though that interesting vinyl type floor is hard to find.

YY Harvey Maria, was just coming on to mention them.

Have a look at leoline.
They do lots of traditional vinyl but also a few patterns which are more bold patterns IYSWIM. We have a pebble effect one, they also had a jigsaw pattern, something that looked like metal and one like a child's road rug thingy.
It is fairly thick vinyl and feels lovely in our bathrooms anything would compared to the grim carpet we had! :)

Harvey Maria tiles are beautiful and lovely quality (much much better than Zazous) but they are £45 a square metre....

I went to Carpetright last week for cheap vinyl for shower room....was very surprised at the amount of different, funky oatterned ones that were available. They stock the striped one linked up thread too. I quite fancied it, but it wouldn't have matched the sparkly wet wall I have already chosen!
