Dark stain/wax for kitchen table

I have sanded down my oak kitchen table and it is ready for waxing. I'd like a dark colour but the table is used constantly for eating, homework, crafts etc so I need to make sure it is waterproof, non toxic and can be wiped. Any ideas fellow DIYers? TIA!

waxing will restore the finish - bri wax is good - will be water resistant - however encourage others to wipe up water / liquid ASAP to avoid damage ! put on with 0000grade wire wool for a pro finish !
good luck ! and wear rubber gloves !! or will stain your nails !! :-)

Haven't used this personally but Osmo top oil is meant to be VERY VERY HARDWEARING... Haven't read a bad review about it online!

It's non toxic too apparently, so safe you can eat off it! Shock

Osmo top oil is great. They have a dark colour - acacia - as well as clear and natural. Very hard wearing surface. We have it on worktops and kitchen table.
