Shall I splash out on one? Don't need the ice machine, and wonder if they're worth the extra cash? What are the pros and cons?

You don't know it yet but, you do neeeed the ice dispenser.

SuddenlySingleAgain · 08/08/2013 20:05

before you buy can you fit your fav frozen pizza flat in the freezer ?

groovejet · 08/08/2013 20:10

Agree with Pippa re the ice & water dispenser, one of the first things I did when we moved was to make sure that was hooked up again.

Pros - The fridge section is huge so can keep things better organised the cons is that the freezer section is small, depends really on how much stuff you usually store in the freezer.

Very good point Suddenly! I didn't think of that and I can't :( Its bendy...

I don't have one of the ice makers as it took up too much freezer space. But I do like having lots of shelves in the freezer so I can find things easily.

I've just put mine in the utility room as it's been in the garage since I moved house 2 years ago. The kids (8&11) now get their own drinks as they love using the water and ice dispensers. The only drawback is that the freezer is a bit small because of the room the ice maker takes up.

I have had lots of big American fridge freezers (I lived in the states).
Now that I am back in the UK I have chosen to have a normal UK size fridge freezer with another back up/drinks fridge freezer in the garage to be used at Xmas or for parties.

The reason that I didn't want an oversized fridge freezer in the kitchen is because I used to end up buying too much food and throwing it away. I like to shop regularly and only buy a few days ahead of time. The food would get lost in the big fridge. I know this sounds a but daft though Grin

However, ice and cold water dispensers are FANTASTIC. They are especially good for younger kids as I think they encourage them to drink.

Thanks - it seems the ice dispenser is popular! I wonder how easy they are to plumb in...? Right, down to the shop with a pizza to see if it'll fit in the freezer then Wink

DH plumbed our ice dispenser in with not much trouble and he isn't usually the best at things like that Grin

I hate the water and ice dispensers, but do love having a frost free freezer.

HoikyPoiky · 09/08/2013 17:45

Which do great reviews on fridge freezers.

INeedALieIn · 09/08/2013 17:51

No water/ice dispenser here as it takes up too much freezer space.

mrsravelstein · 09/08/2013 17:53

i don't have an ice/water thingie either, just use conventional ice trays for the once a month that my dad comes over and wants one ice cube in his JD

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/08/2013 17:58

Funnily enough, it's the ice and water things wasting too much space that put me off getting one. They just wouldnt be used.
