Victorian house name and date stone thingy - help...

My Victorian house and its neighbour have an embedded stone sign above the door with the house name and year it was built. The house name is wearing off and is hardly visible. Who would I contact if I wanted to have the sign re-chiselled or replaced (I realise I am making no sense)? What would I do without this forum? :)

Ask at local funeral directors to find out who does lettering on headstones.

Its a date stone definitely. If your house is listed it may be part of the listing so worth contacting your local council to check before you get it re inscribed.

I love date stones. I work with old buildings in the heritage sector so they are very useful.
