Our new stove was installed yesterday (yippee!), but as the guy only does installation we have to do the finishing touches, i.e. replacing skirting boards and painting. He had to put in a new lintel and so there's what I think is cement covering it - I don't know how to link photos but there is a picture in my profile. DH was the one at home, and entirely failed to get any details of what needs doing (imagine lots of "knowledgeable" male grunting) - I'm guessing it'll need a bit of filler of some kind, sanding and priming?
I'd really appreciate any recommendations for types of products for this sort of job (or perhaps I can persuade DH that we just need to pay a handyman to do this for us 
).
