I rent from a semi from the local council and have been in the house just over a year, when we viewed the house all the fences were fine.3 weeks after moving in the dividing fence between us and the next semi down collapsed and we had to replace it costing us nearly £140. Now the back fece which dives us from the house opposite is about to collapse. The problem is, is im not sure who has to replace it as it is large fence panels with the posts inbetween, so the posts are not on either side of the fence but in the middle....please help as i think its unfair that im goin to have to replace another fence which i really cant afford!

Surely it's the council that should pay for things like that, if they're the owners? Apologies if wrong but I thought that was part of renting?

If you're renting the house, the fences are not your responsibility. You need to just report to the owner (council?) that the fence is in poor condition. Then it's up to them to work out who owns it and replace it if it's theirs or not bother.

What happened with the fence problem last time? Did you contact the council about it?
